Justin Timberlake’s driver’s license suspended in New York by judge after DWI arrest

  • Nation

Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace has suspended Austin Timberlake’s Tennessee driver’s license in New York.

During a virtual court appearance on Friday regarding his drunken driving case on Long Island, Timberlake spoke little as the judge accepted his not-guilty plea and suspended his driving privileges in New York.

Timberlake was arrested by police in Sag Harbor on June 18 after allegedly running a stop sign, veering out of his lane, and exiting his BMW while smelling of alcohol.

Timberlake's attorney, Edward Burke Jr., insists that Timberlake was not intoxicated and argues that the case should be dismissed.

Timberlake had previously appeared in court in person, but a paperwork error necessitated a repeat arraignment. Burke noted that the original charging document was missing a police sergeant’s signature.

Currently touring in Europe, the former NSYNC singer did not have to return to the U.S. for the court date. He has a performance scheduled for Saturday night in Antwerp, Belgium.

Assistant District Attorney Ashley Cangro stated that new documents were filed on July 2 to correct this issue.

Police reported that Timberlake was pulled over after leaving a Sag Harbor hotel around 12:30 a.m. According to their account, Timberlake exhibited bloodshot and glassy eyes, a strong smell of alcohol, slow speech, unsteady movement, and poor performance on field sobriety tests.

Timberlake, 43, told the officer he had consumed one martini and was following friends home. He was subsequently arrested and spent the night in custody at the police station.

The next court date is set for August 9.
