If you’re looking for some fun activities in and around the Wissahickon area, you’re in luck. Plenty of activities are going on throughout Ambler Borough, and Whitpain and Lower Gwynedd townships. Take a look at “This Week Now, Aug. 5 to 11.”

The Ambler Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at 29 W. Butler Pike, in Ambler Borough. Vendors such as the Apple Tree Goat Dairy, Back to Earth Compost Crew LLC, Blue Mountain Vineyards, Baked by Cheffrey, Philadelphia Mead Company Inc., Clean Green Growers, Double Trouble., Fishtown Pickle Project, Five Saints Distilling, Home & Skillet, Hungry Moon Foods, Forest & Main, Kara Jo Skincare and Bee Farm, Kastania Olive Oil, Lynda’s Lady’s Honey, Milk Jawn, Natrual Body Essentials, Neil’s Sharpening Service, Saint Rocco’s Treats, Sunny Acre Farms, Triple Bottom Brewing, Vera Pasta, and Wild Flour Bakery may be in attendance. The Farmers’ Market is held May through November, located conveniently at the corner of Butler and Maple avenues, which is right near the SEPTA Ambler train station.

Steve Cofield & Sweet will perform live at the Blue Bell Inn, on Friday, Aug. 9 from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The three-member band specializes in classic R&B music, from Motown through Neo-Soul. A Summer Shells N’ Sips special is also coinciding with the musical talent at the bar. Mondays through Fridays, those at the bar can order $2 oysters, $4 shrimp cocktail, or $10 signature spritzers. An Act of God” opens at the Act II Playhouse on Tuesday, Aug. 6 with its first showing at 8 p.m. already sold out! Tickets remain available for other performances, including the Wednesday, Aug. 7 show at 8 p.m., a Thursday, Aug. 8 presentation at 8 p.m., and the Saturday, Aug. 10, 8 p.m. production. The Wissahickon Valley Public Library hosts a “Yarn Café” each Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Ambler Library, located at 209 Race St., Ambler. All ages are invited to “work on projects and visit with fellow yarn lovers over a cup of tea.” Crafters that work with any fabrics, from beginners to the most seasoned experts, are welcome to join the weekly group. Friday, Aug. 9, at 10:30 a.m., the Yarn Café is offered only at the Ambler location. For more information, call the library at 215-646-1072.

The Little Gym, located 909 N. Bethlehem Pike, in Spring House, will host the “Funny Bugs and Giggle Worms” class for those ages 3 to 5 on Friday, Aug. 9. The hour-long class runs from 9 to 10 a.m. and is designed to not only let your kiddo expend some energy while also learning and using imagination. Children are encouraged to “build physical skills while working on socialization, listening, and following directions,” according to the site.  Weekly classes require membership, though non-members may purchase individual sessions for $20.
