The Harris Campaign is set to announce in Philadelphia tonight.
In what appears to be a stick in the eye to Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro, it's been leaked to national media outlets that the Harris campaign will name Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her Vice Presidential selection.
Recent media reports point to a late campaign by the left flank of the Democratic party against Shapiro, who is Jewish, for his unvarnished support of Israel. Shapiro has been an ardent supporter of Israel following the terrorist attack on Israeli civilians by the terrorist group Hamas on Oct 7, 2023.
Walz, a popular and folksy governor in his home state of Minnesota, is relatively unknown to most Americans, with NBC reporting that 71 percent of those polled have no opinion of him. Walz appears to have been picked to appeal to midwestern and white working class voters who have felt disenfranchised with progressive policy and culture. His opponents are already pointing to his DEI initiatives in Minnesota that they believe align him with the far left.
Expectations are that the formal announcement will be made at tonight’s rally in Philadelphia.
