More than 15 fire crews from Bucks, Montgomery respond to heavy smoke at Grand View Hospital

More than 15 fire companies responded to reports of smoke that filled three floors of the older portion of Grand View Hospital on Lawn Avenue in West Rockhill Township Sunday night. 

There were no injuries and no evacuations. Patients were sheltered in place.

Initial reports from the scene said the source of the smoke was in a mechanical room on the third floor of the building, known as "The Pavilion." Fire crews requested numerous fans and conducted ventilation of the floors.

The call came in at 8:38 p.m. for the fire. By 9:15 p.m., fire crews were still unable to locate the source of the fire, and more companies were requested for assistance. At 9:22 p.m., smoke had filled three floors and the hospital CEO had arrived on scene.

At 9:42 p.m., per reports, fire officials located the source in a mechanical room on the third floor, possibly from insulation around a pipe.

By 10 p.m., fire crews were wrapping up the scene.

Montgomery County fire agencies assisting at the scene included Colmar Fire Co., Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Perseverance Fire Co. of Souderton, Hatfield Vol. Fire Co., Telford Fire Co., Tylersport Fire Co., East Greenville Fire Co., Red Hill Fire Co.
