Doylestown Borough Council unanimously approved a new event coming this Halloween season.
A Doylestown Borough “Booorough Bash” Halloween event will take place Oct. 23 at Broad Commons Park on Doyle Street.
“There will be activities, bonfires, S’mores, and a lot of fun,” said Councilwoman Elizabeth Wyckoff during her Environment & Recreation Committee report at last week’s borough council session. “The parks and recreation board approved the proposal and I am recommending approval, if council wants to follow the recommendation.”
Wyckoff said the event idea came from Caitlin Hernandez, the borough’s Recreation and Special Events Coordinator, versus a suggestion coming out of the committee.
“It was presented to us by Caitlin, who presented to the parks and recreation board,” Wyckoff said.
Borough Manager John Davis said Hernandez came to him with the idea the week prior to their meeting and successfully passed through the other board and recreation commissions.
“It could have waited until the next series of meetings, but that would make things tight in terms of preparation,” Davis said. “We put it on the agenda, provided it was run by the Parks and Rec Board as a blessing to move forward.”
