Fishtown Freeze returns with ice sculptures, holiday shopping and family fun

The annual Fishtown Freeze is back for its 6th year, bringing a festive mix of holiday magic, art, and shopping to Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood. The event, organized by the Fishtown Kensington Area Business Improvement District (BID) and Fishtown Co, will take place this Saturday, December 14th. If weather interferes, a rain date is set for Sunday, December 15th.

This free, family-friendly event will feature:

• Live ice sculpting: Watch expert ice artists from Ice Sculpture Philly carve stunning works of art at three live carving sessions at The Battery (12 pm), Mural City Garden (2 pm), and Garage (4 pm).
• Over 24 ice sculptures: Stroll the streets to see beautifully carved ice sculptures displayed at iconic local spots like Johnny Brenda’s, Cake Life Bake Shop, Philadelphia Distilling, and many more.
• Holiday food and drink: Seasonal treats, mulled wine, and specialty bites will be offered at spots like Mural City Cellars, International Bar, and Vince’s Pizzeria, where families can enjoy Pizza with Santa from 3:30 pm to 6 pm.
• Santa photo ops: Snap a picture with Santa at Frankford Hall (12 pm - 4 pm) and Vince’s Pizzeria.
• Live entertainment & unique experiences: Enjoy live music, a hot cocoa bar, and an outdoor Winter Wonderland at The Battery. Plus, Wild Heart Tattoo will host its first-ever walk-in flash tattoo event alongside a live ice sculpture.
• Complimentary trolley service: New this year, a trolley will transport visitors along Frankford Avenue from 12 pm to 8 pm.

      

Fishtown Holiday Shopping Spree — December 14-15

Running in tandem with Fishtown Freeze, the Holiday Shopping Spree is a two-day progressive sale offering exclusive deals and discounts at over 20 local retailers and boutiques. Shoppers can increase their discounts the more they shop, earning up to 15% off after visiting multiple stores. Participating stores include Harriet's Bookshop, Made & Maker, Myrtle & Magnolia, and TOILE, among others. Customers can also enjoy complimentary drinks, snacks, and even special perks like a $5 pint at Brewery ARS or wine deals at Mural City Cellars.

Fishtown Freeze and the Holiday Shopping Spree are free to attend. Food, drinks, and shopping are pay-as-you-go. Fishtown is accessible via the Market-Frankford subway line and local trolleys.
