Boxing Insider Promotions is back for the third installment of their indie boxing series Saturday in the Tropicana Showroom.

A stacked professional card packed with undefeated contenders, including Atlantic City fighters Justin Figueroa and Bruce Seldon Jr. is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

It is part of a full fight weekend planned, beginning with weigh-ins Friday, which will be broadcast live on WOND, said Boxing Insider’s Larry Goldberg.

Later that night, Mike Tyson will face Jake Paul in a fight from AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The fight will air exclusively on Netflix, but seats can be reserved at Caesars Sportsbook at the Tropicana.

“We’ll all be there,” Goldberg said. “Saturday night is our show

World Boxing Association (WBA) International bantamweight champion and Baltimore native, Dominque ‘Dimes’ Crowder (17-0, 10 Kos) headlines Saturday’ card in an eight-round bout against Duke Micah (24-2, 19 KOs), of Ghana. “I knew Dominique as an amateur, I started sponsoring him and three or four fighters, providing gloves, and other necessities. He’s trained by my friend Jose Guzman; Dominque is Jose’s first fighter to take all the way from amateurs to the pros,” Goldberg said.

Power punching welterweight Avious Griffin (15-0, 14 KOs), will feature in an eight-round bout versus Adrian Gutierrez (12-2-1, 6 KOs). Griffin is a former Tennessee State Champion.

Two undefeated knockout artists and highly successful amateurs will compete in two six-round bouts.

Super middleweight Donte Layne (4-0, 4 Kos), is a 21-year-old Long Islander and two-time National Golden Gloves gold medalist.

Paterson, Passaic County native and junior middleweight Dwyke Flemmings Jr., (8-0 8 Kos), is just 20 years old and a junior Olympic silver medalist. He also will compete in a six-round bout.

Layne and Flemmings have combined to win all their fights by knockout.

“We’re excited to have Donte Layne in his first six-round fight, working in association with Overtime boxing,” Goldberg said. “Avious Griffin is a real contender. He trains out of the Top Rank gym. Dwyke Flemmings is a talented kid from North Jersey.”

As mentioned above, junior middleweight “Mr. Atlantic City” — Justin Figueroa (10-0, 8 KOs) — fights Imar Rosales (9-3-1, 5 KOs) in a six-rounder, while Bruce “Atlantic City Express 2.0” Seldon Jr. (3-0, 3 KOs) — the son of former (WBA) Heavyweight Champion Bruce Seldon Sr. — takes on Julio Mendoza (3-4, 2 KOs), in a four-round bout.

Goldberg elaborated: “Justin Figueroa, Mr. Atlantic City, he’s my favorite human being in the world. Happy to have Bruce back for a second time. These are two AC kids we can all be proud of.”

Two accomplished female fighters — Philadelphia welterweight Stacia “The Natural” Suttles and Hawaiian lightweight Shere Mae Patricio (2-0, 1 KO) — will be showcased in four-round fights.

“Stacia, was an Olympic alternate, a really successful amateur,” Goldberg said.

Suttles won the Women’s National Championship back in 2016, and Particio won a gold medal at the 2023 Women’s National Golden Gloves.

“These are two female fighters who are for real,” he added.

Italian junior welterweight Giacomo Micheli (8-0, 6 KOs), takes on Ronnell “Punisher” Burnett (11-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-round bout. “Giacomo adds international flavor, he’s 8-0, a real deal prospect. He has a large social media following in Italy.”

“There are a lot of blue-chip prospects on this card. This is a next generation show. We have a lot of Shobox quality matches on this card. We are just a small promotion, we can’t compete with Saudi money or the New York Yankees, but we can become like Triple AAA baseball for boxing. Providing a platform for prospects and contenders to get noticed worldwide. This card will be broadcast live all around the world on DAZN.”

During the event, Don Elbaum, a longtime boxing promoter and matchmaker, will be honored. Elbaum was largely responsible for bring boxing to the Tropicana in the early 1980’s. He staged Tropicana’s Tuesday night fights, a live weekly show that ran for many years and featured some of the great fighters of the 80s. It concluded with a staggering 196 shows.

Tickets are on sale online. Prices range between $48 and $203.50.

"Once our card wraps, we are inviting everyone to watch the Jon Jones fight. I’m very excited to watch the UFC," Goldberg said. "Then Sunday is our event for the kids of Atlantic City."

Boxing Insider is partnering with the Atlantic City Police Athletic League, where the kids will show their skills in the Tropicana ring.

“My father would be so proud, watching these kids get a chance to fight in the casino just like the pros,” Goldberg said. “They are going to raise a lot of money for the PAL program.”

All proceeds from the show at 1 p.m. Sunday will go to the AC PAL.

“I’m 100 percent independent, putting my money where my mouth is,” Goldberg said. “We’re coming full circle with the pro and amateur shows back-to-back. A lot of the kids from the PAL will be coming to the fights. It is going to be an experience.

“This is a community-minded event,” he continued. “Of all the shows, it’s the one I’m most proud of. As big as the pro show is, it’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done, on the same night as UFC, and I’m spending most of my time thinking about the PAL show. Even if I never promoted another pro show, I want to do the PAL show for the rest of my life.”

Goldberg said he’s glad Atlantic City Police Lt. William Santiago gave Boxing Insider the opportunity to work with the PAL.

“We need the area to come out and support us,” he said. “I’m very hopeful we are going to do three or four events next year. The Tropicana has been a great partner to work with.”

Tickets are $40, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Atlantic City PAL. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door.
