If you are looking for a fun event, there’s no need to leave your own community. There is plenty happening in and around the Wissahickon area all week long. From giving back to the community, to celebrating alongside its residents, there is so much going on right in your own backyard. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Wissahickon Valley Public Library’s Ambler location will start its five-week Photography Workshop at Ambler Library. Courses will be held on Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29, and Nov. 12. The course will cover composition, styles, exposures (f stops, shutter speed, iso), software and more. Registrants should email [email protected] to sign-up. The full course is $75, or individual session drop-ins can be enjoyed for $15 each. The course will be instructed by George Johnson.
Each Wednesday, from 3 to 6 p.m., Well Crafted Ambler Brewery offers up $5 Flights at its location, 300 Brookside Ave., Building 19 in Ambler, the Brewery and Beer Garden. With a chance to sample a variety of the brewery’s offerings, guests 21 and over are welcome to attend.
Temple University’s Ambler campus will host the Ambler Arboretum’s Autumn Horticultural Hike on Friday, Oct. 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at its location, 580 Meetinghouse Road, in Ambler. Guests will hike through the gardens with director, Kathy Salisbury, beginning from Flagpole Circle in front of Bright Hall. Those interested can register online here. The days of the Ambler Farmers’ Market are winding down for the season, but on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon the lot will be lined with a variety of fresh foods, baked goods, and wares for sale at 29 W. Butler Pike in Ambler. Based at the corner of Butler Pike and Maple Avenue, next to the La Provence restaurant, the seasonal market welcomes new guest. The Coyote Tracks Family Campout Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, with an overnight of camping, coals, and community, all to support with funds for programs in Philadelphia. The event will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, ending on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Fort Washington State Park, 500 S. Bethlehem Pike, in Fort Washington.
