ATLANTIC CITY – The spirits will be out in force at the Absecon Lighthouse on a dark and eerie October night. The lighthouse, long considered to be haunted by ghostly keepers, will hold Walking Tours and Paranormal Investigations, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
Since the Inlet Public Private Association renovated the lighthouse tower and Keeper’s Cottage, staff and volunteers have reported hearing footsteps and voices, smelled smoke and seeing ghostly apparitions.
Attendees will hear the “true ghost stories” of the beacon and hear evidence from paranormal researchers, including audio and video recordings taken during paranormal investigations.
Haunted walking tours will be held at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and include a tower climb. Reservations are required. Cost is $25 per person.
Lighthouse paranormal investigations will be held at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Cost is $50 per person.
Participants include SyFy’s Ghost Hunters and the NJ Researchers of Paranormal Evidence group using ghost tracking equipment.
For reservations, call 609-449-1360.
The state-owned historic site is supported in part with grants from the NJ Historical Commission, NJ Arts and Cultural Renewal Fund and the Princeton Area Community Foundation.
The Absecon Lighthouse is located at 31 S. Rhode Island Ave. in the Inlet section of Atlantic City.
