Some Philly streets will be closed for presidential debate

Motorists should be aware of road closures and detours during paving.

  • News

The circus, er, presidential debate is coming to Philadelphia. Which means road closures and other measures.

There will be shutdowns from Arch to Market Streets between 4th and 7th Streets starting Tuesday morning, according to FOX 29. Vehicles and pedestrians will be allowed on 4th Street and Market Street. I-676's 6th Street exit will also be closed; the westbound lanes are expected to stay open, but may close if necessary. Eastbound lanes from I-676 into New Jersey over the Ben Franklin bridge will close after rush hour.

Arch and Race Streets will remain closed through debate, which starts at 9 p.m. at the National Constitution Center. All closures will remain in effect until Wednesday morning, and more closures may be necessary for safety reasons as they develop.

SEPTA has no planned changes, but its travel advisories can be found here.
