Drunk Irishman in Philly Bar Can Actually Fight

  • Eagles

Look. As an Irish-American, I love my people to death. But we have a reputation for a reason. All too often, exactly one (1) shot of Jameson gets the red-faced gentleman at your neighborhood pub thinking he's a Celtic warrior king.

Are you looking at him? You got an eye problem?

Oh no. He's taking off his Eagles jersey with an obscure white player's name on the back. He's doing another shot and wiping his mouth. He's making a scene. He's ready to take you outside and... get knocked out.

That's fine, now you're back inside and you're hugging. He always loved you. Respect. Tears. Get the lad a pint.

Ohhhh but be careful! If you're in the Philadelphia area this weekend, you may be up against the real deal.

Conor McGregor, the Irish professional mixed martial artist, swung by Bell Beverage on Front St. and Chickie's & Pete's South Philly location on Thursday. A true man of the people, McGregor donned an Eagles tee and took shots with the crowd.

The day before, McGregor was spotted in a few Jersey locations.

What in the House of Pain is going on here?

Turns out McGregor was in town to promote Forged Irish Stout, a Guinness competitor founded by McGregor and his team. Forged's website decribes the beer as "the world's creamiest stout" and "a beautifuly hand-crafted stout with hints of chocolate and coffee roasted notes." The website adds that Forged pub cans come with a special nitro widget to give the stout its texture.

So it's Guinness. Got it.

Regardless of why he visited, we now have footage of McGregor in Birds gear, and we can work that into amateur Eagles hype videos for years to come. Slainte.
