The Nicola Sala Conservatory of Music (Benevento) brings Italian Opera - UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia on April 11 and 12.

A two-day event that will bring together artists, scholars and music lovers to celebrate the timeless beauty and international influence of Italian Opera and Bel Canto.

An opportunity open to all – not only to the Italian community – allowing people to explore the richness of Opera through two key events.

On Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m., internationally renowned scholars will discuss Bel Canto during a panel conversation at the Hamilton Garden Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

On Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The Benevento Conservatory "Nicola Sala" orchestra with eighty musicians will present Cavalleria Rusticana and Grandi Amori, a free concert at Marian Anderson Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

“This important occasion aims not only to showcase the excellence of our University of Music, but also to offer students the opportunity to engage with internationally renowned musicians, enriching their experience and fostering their professional development," said Caterina Meglio, President of the Benevento Conservatory of Music "Nicola Sala."

"Through this initiative, the Benevento Conservatory aims to consolidate its leading role in the dissemination of Italian musical culture in the world," added Giuseppe Ilario, director of the institute.

THE ORCHESTRA - The performance is entrusted to eighty musicians of the State Conservatory of Music "Nicola Sala" of Benevento, under the direction of Maestro Maurizio Petrolo, whose fame is not only the result of extraordinary performances, but also of a constant commitment to collaborating with renowned composers and international artistic institutions.

THE PROJECT - Led by the Benevento Conservatory of Music in collaboration with the Campobasso Conservatory of Music and Pegaso University, the project aims to strengthen the international strategy of two southern Italian institutions of higher artistic and musical education (AFAM), renowned for their contribution to Italy's musical heritage.
