Saquon Barkley took to X Monday morning to respond to critics of him spending Sunday golfing with President Trump ahead of Monday's visit by the Eagles to the White House to celebrate the Eagles' Super Bowl title:

Barkley and Trump spent Sunday together:

John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported back in October that Barkley, Jalen Hurts and Jeffrey Lurie did golf with former President Obama, as the running back noted:

Hurts declined to say last week when asked at a TIME red-carpet event whether he plans to attend the White House Monday or not:

Lurie has said that attendance for Monday's celebration isn't mandatory.

“Our culture is that these are optional things,” Lurie said earlier this month. “If you want to enjoy this, come along and we’ll have a great time and if you don’t, it is totally an optional thing.”
