On the heels of an alleged serial sexual predator in the same vicinity, the typically glamorous Rittenhouse Square is once again in Philadelphia news headlines after a shot rang out Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, police responded to the scene of the Brandy Melville clothing store along the 1500 block of Walnut Street for the reports of a theft. The store's shoppers and employees were left "crying and shaken," said another report.
Per witnesses at the scene, a store security guard hit a man "trashing the store" with a chemical spray before also firing one round from his hand gun. The shot did not hit any person, according to reports.
As of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the store remained closed as police investigated the scene and vicinity. The incident remains under investigation at this time. More information will be published as it is made available.
