A robbery of a Dunkin store in Montgomery Township of $165 has landed a Philadelphia man in county jail.

David J. Rodriguez, 39, of the 7600 block of Castor Avenue, Philadelphia, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 11 ½ to 23 months after pleading guilty to felony robbery for sticking up the Dunkin on Bethlehem Pike on Feb. 1, 2024, per court records.

According to The Mercury, Rodriguez is banned from Dunkin, must repay $165 to the store, and is ordered to have no contact with the employee who was a victim of the robbery, in which Rodriguez implied he had a knife.

Charges of receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking were dismissed against Rodriguez as part of the plea agreement, per the report.

On Feb. 1, 2024 at 7:09 a.m., police were dispatched to the store for a robbery in progress. According to the affidavit, Rodriguez demanded all the money in a note, which also told the employee not to scream.

According to The Mercury, the note had the victim’s name and implied he had a knife.

The employee removed the till from the register and placed it on the counter. Rodriguez then leaned over the counter, removed $165 and put it in his jacket, police said.

Right before exiting, Rodriguez turned around and said, “I’ll be back in ten minutes,” according to the arrest affidavit. He then fled soutbound on Bethlehem Pike in a Nissan Altima.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
