A Delaware County jury found 28-year-old Anigar Monsee guilty in May on four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, stemming from shocking YouTube videos in which she tortured and killed animals while soliciting likes and engagement.

On Wednesday, the court handed down a sentence of time served—nearly 23 months in prison—and five years of probation under terms that some advocates say are far too lenient.

Investigators uncovered several disturbing videos in Monsee’s YouTube channel, which had drawn over 20,000 subscribers in 2024, showing her harming a range of creatures, including a chicken, frogs, a rabbit, and a pigeon.

One clip involving a chicken even depicted her commenting on the number of viewers and likes during the act, seemingly treating the cruelty as content fodder rather than a crime.

Animal rights organizations have condemned the sentence as inadequate given the nature of her offenses.

In a statement provided to WHYY, Revolution Philadelphia organizer Carol Lutter stated, “Probation is not accountability,” asserting that the mild punishment undermines the seriousness of animal suffering and sends the wrong message about what society tolerates.
