Philadelphia mayor spells Eagles correctly

  • Eagles

Regardless of where one falls on the political spectrum, it's endearing when civic leaders can poke fun at their own mistakes.

Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker did just that at a press conference on Thursday, giving herself a do-over on the E-A-G-L-E-S chant that she flubbed ahead of the Birds' NFC Championship win over the Commanders.

Mayor Parker's chant was accompanied by a plea for fans to celebrate responsibly if the Eagles win the big game. "Please do not climb poles," said Parker. "We want everyone to have a good time . . . but my hope is that you will listen to SEPTA, to our police commissioner, our fire commissioner, and our director of our office of emergency management, and take their guidance."

During the city's celebration after the Eagles' NFC Championship victory, 18-year-old Tyler Sabapathy tragically fell to his death while attempting to climb a light pole.
