A Philadelphia Highway Patrol officer was shot twice by a suspect on a North Philadelphia street just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
The officer was hit in the hand and in the chest, but was wearing a ballistic vest. He was driven to Temple University Hospital by his partner.
According to a report from Fox29, the injured officer walked into the emergency room.

Neither the injured officer nor his partner discharged their weapons, which was confirmed by body camera footage, according to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel.
The suspect, 29-year-old Brandon Williams, is dead and a gun was recovered at the scene.
The officers were attempting to stop a man in a stolen car at 23rd Street and Indiana Ave. He crashed the car a block later and exited the car and opened fire on the officers.
After fleeing, the shooter then encountered officers from the 39th District and fired on them, hitting their vehicle. He fled again and is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Bethel said at a press conference outside Temple Hospital about two hours after the shooting, that the 38-year-old officer, who has been on the job for nearly 10 years, and has a one-year-old child.
The officer was released from the hospital overnight.
