Shelter in Place Order issued after warehouse fire breaks out

There is an active Fire scene and crews are working to gain control of the situation

Jenkintown Borough is advising its residents to avoid going outside due to the massive warehouse fire that took place Tuesday night. 

A Shelter in Place Order has been issued for a radius of 0.5 miles from the SPS Technologies, 301 Highland Avenue in Abington Township. That distance basically includes the entire Borough. There is an active Fire scene and crews are working to gain control of the situation.

For your safety, Jenkintown suggests:

  • Avoid the area due to heavy smoke and ongoing firefighting efforts.
  • Stay inside due to dangerous smoke and air quality concerns.
  • Traffic and pedestrians should find an alternate routes and avoid the vicinity.

The Jenkintown Fire Department and Emergency Management Coordinator are on scene and in communication with Abington Township and Cheltenham Township during this coordinated effort.
