Except for at the New Jersey shore and in Delaware, Winter Storm Blair did not live up to expectations in the Philadelphia area.
As of 5PM, snow totals from the area were much lower than forecasters expected in many parts of Philadelphia and it's immediate suburbs.
Philadelphia International Airport reported 1.8 inches of snow while only 1.2 inches fell in Center City. Most Pennsylvania suburbs got between 1.5 and 2.5 inches, falling short of the predicted 3-6 inches for much of the region.
MORE SNOW
Another round of snow showers will move through from Philadelphia on south tonight with an additional coating to 1". Behind that comes harsh winter winds and wind chills in the single digits and teens! pic.twitter.com/7ZNtwcNFAa
However, they're plowing on the Boardwalks and promenades across Southern New Jersey, with Cape May reporting eight inches of snow on the ground. Meanwhile, the further south in Delaware you go, the heavier the snowfall was. For example, Only two inches fell in Hockessin, but 90 miles south in Georgetown, they measured a foot of snow on the ground.
The snow did impact travel as flights were delayed at the airport and Amtrak had to cancel several train routes in the Northeast corridor because conditions were so bad between Washington D.C. and Wilmington, Del.
The wind and cold are expected to stay in the area for several days, so the snow that did come down isn't going to melt away, just blow around a lot. The National Weather Service is tracking another possible storm, though, that could hit out area as soon as Saturday. Early prognostications has that snow event dumping a possible 1-3 inches on the area.
