Grab your scarves and boots—it’s time to turn up the winter magic! On Saturday, February 1, 2025, Manayunk’s Main Street transforms into a frosty wonderland for the Founders Philly Freeze-Out, the 2025 MNYK Chowder Crawl, and the Freeze Out Run. With dazzling ice sculptures, mouthwatering chowder, live entertainment, and beer galore, this is one winter festival you don’t want to miss.
Kick off the day: Freeze Out Run
Start your day on the right (and chilly!) foot with the Freeze Out Run at 9:00 a.m., brought to you by Philadelphia Runner and New Balance. It’s free to participate—just register ahead of time! Whether you’re racing to win or running for fun, it’s a great way to warm up for the icy festivities ahead.
The heart of the event? The jaw-dropping ice sculptures crafted by Peter Slavin and his team from Ice Sculpture Philly. With over 25 stunning sculptures (think giant coffee cups, Rocky statues, and Roman busts) and 10 live carving demos, you’ll see Main Street literally sparkle. Don’t miss the ice slide or the chance to catch the carvers in action—chainsaws and all!
Chowder Crawl: Comfort food done right
What’s winter without something warm and delicious? The 2025 MNYK Chowder Crawl is your ticket to chowder heaven. From chipotle chicken chowder to classic clam, more than a dozen local spots are serving up their unique spins on this cozy classic. For just $18, you’ll get chowder samples, a wristband, and a custom map to guide you to the tastiest bowls in town. Bonus: Vote for your favorite chowder on the Let’s Rallie app!
It wouldn’t be a proper festival without drinks and shopping. Founders Brewing Company is bringing the party with brews like Mortal Bloom Hazy IPA and 0% Hoppy Mood, plus giveaways and their epic Ice Bar at Canal View Park. Stroll through the heated Founders Winter Market, where you’ll find everything from artisanal jewelry to gourmet pickles. And don’t forget to pop into Manayunk’s shops for some retail therapy—they’re offering special sales and promos all day long.
Family-friendly frost festivities
This event isn’t just for adults—kids and families will love the snowy igloo photo ops, live music, and the traditional Chinese New Year Lion Dance performed by New Leaf. There’s even an ice fishing giveaway game to keep the little ones entertained.
