Two of the four men accused of killing Philadelphia Police Sgt. James O'Connor in March, 2020 pled guilty in federal court on Wednesday.
O'Connor, 46, was shot while working alongside a SWAT team serving a warrant on the 1600 block of Bridge Street in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.
Hassan Elliott, who was the subject for the whom the warrant was intended, and Khalif Sears entered guilty pleas on Wednesday. Two other men charged in the killing - Bilal Mitchell and Sherman Easterling - will stand trial.
Police allege that all four men were part of a violent, drug trafficking network known as "1700 Scattergood" and were arrested in connection with the shooting.
The allegations suggest that Elliott, who was 22 at the time, shot and killed O'Connor when he opened fire on the unit serving the warrant through a closed front door.
All four men when charged with murder as well as a series of drugs and weapons crimes.
Elliott was being sought in connection to another homicide from 2019 as well as another shooting.
O'Connor was a 23-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police force and spent 15 years with the SWAT unit. He was promoted from Corporal to Sergeant posthumously.
He left behind a wife and three children.
