Bird Brain! Philly cop injured by out of control driver during Eagles game

  • Public Safety

Sunday night was a time for celebration at the sports complex. Instead, one bad actor tempered the excitement, at least for a little while.

One man's actions resulted in an injury to a Philly cop who was simply on a traffic post at the game.

A portion of the incident was caught on video and posted to social media.

The incident occurred on Pattison Ave. outside Lincoln Financial Field, closer to Xfinity Live during the fourth quarter of the Eagles win over the Rams in the NFC Divisional Playoff.

Pennsylvania State Police were attempting to pull over a driver for multiple traffic violations when the driver went into reverse and slammed into a Philadelphia Police cruiser.

The Philadelphia officer was sitting at their post preparing to handle the crush of traffic leaving the Linc within the hour.

The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for their injuries and released.

The driver was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), accident caused by DUI and driving without a license.
