A teenage Eagles fan is fighting for his life after falling from a traffic light at the intersection of 15th and Market Streets following the Eagles victory over Washington Sunday that earned them a trip to the Super Bowl.
Several videos on social media show the 18-year-old losing his grip and falling several feet backwards on the street below.
The teenage man was transported to Jefferson Hospital where he is currently on life support after suffering a brain injury from head trauma, according to a report from 6ABC.
Philadelphia fans are notorious for climbing poles during sports celebrations. The city has tried to counter that by greasing the light poles in the city so that climbing becomes more difficult.
These poles were not greased Sunday, and the fan put himself in peril by climbing so high up the pole.
Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker pleaded with fans in advance of the game to not climb the poles if the Eagles had won.
Some fans ignored her pleas, and now one is in seriously critical condition.
