Philadelphia’s white collar union, District Council 47, reached a tentative contract agreement with the city on Tuesday. The agreement avoided a second strike in the city this month.
DC 47 represents 6,000 city workers, including parking enforcement.
Yesterday, at 5:30 a.m., DC 47 posted to Facebook that they had reached a tentative agreement.
Mayor Parker explained that the contract at hand will increase the members' pay by 13.5% over the next four years that she is in office.
“You’re gonna love it,” said DC 47 president April Gigetts when announcing the tentative agreement.

Gigetts explained that the tentative three-year contract consists of 2.5%, 3%, and 3% wage increases and a 1% fifth pay step in 2027. In addition, the members of DC 47 will also receive a $1,250 bonus.
While the union did not get the 8% annual increase that they asked for, the were satisfied because of needs met in other areas. The DC 47 longevity schedule and shift differentials were modified to better accommodate the members of the union.
Under the new schedule, those who work for five or more years will receive a 1.5% raise, after 10 years a 1.75% raise, and after 15 years a 2% raise.
A ratification vote is still needed to adopt the new contract, which is expected to take place in the coming days.
