On Saturday, August 2nd, from noon to 6 p.m., Fishtown will be home of the ultimate charity Battle of the Bands block party. The party will be hosted by Evil Genius Beer Company in partnership with School of Rock on the 1700 block of Front Street.

If you decide to attend the event, expect a day full of live music, vendors, and a beer garden sponsored by Evil Genius.

Six regional chapters of School of Rock will go head to head in front of a panel of local judges. The battle will include musicians from the School of Rock Philadelphia, Newton, Hockessin, Deptford, Mainline, and Delco.

Be sure to note that the fun does not end there. After the battle, a South Jersey-based alternative rock/emo band, Tell All Your Friends, will take the stage at 8 p.m. for a free night of fun. Until 11 p.m., the band will sing covers to get the crowd singing. They aren’t just about alternative rock and emo music; they will throw in some Queen, Kelly Clarkson, and anything in between to get the crowd going.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to get the local community involved and help support initiatives that are important to us, initiatives just like music education,” Trevor Hayward, Co-Founder of Evil Genius, said. “There’s nothing better than enjoying live music with a cold beer, and the fact that we get to do so while helping rising artists across the region is the icing on the cake."

Evil Genius Beer Company is most commonly recognized for its IPA “Stacy’s Mom.” The beer company decided to run with the music theme and host the music charity event.

Evil Genius Beer Company was started in 2011 by two friends, Luke Bowen and Trevor Hayward. The beer company now distributes to nine states on the East Coast and Midwest: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Rhode Island.
