USPS to host Saturday job fair in Southwest Philadelphia for prospective employees

  • Local

The United States Postal Service will host a special job fair on Saturday, June 14, aimed at attracting new talent for a wide range of positions across the Philadelphia region.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the USPS district office located at 3190 S. 70th St. in Southwest Philadelphia.

The fair is designed to accommodate job seekers who may be unavailable during the standard workweek, including those already employed but seeking new opportunities.

“Scheduling a hiring event on Saturday makes it easier for many applicants who perhaps are currently working and are looking for a change in careers, or have other commitments during the week,” said USPS spokesman Paul Smith in a statement.

Available positions include:

  • City Carrier Assistant
  • Rural Carrier Assistant
  • Motor Vehicle Operator
  • Tractor Trailer Operator
  • Maintenance roles
  • Automotive Technician

USPS personnel will be on-site to answer questions and guide attendees through the application process. While the job fair is in-person, all applications must still be submitted online through the official USPS careers website at www.usps.com/careers.

Positions require weekend and holiday availability, and applicants must meet driving and other job-specific requirements.

The Postal Service highlights its competitive compensation, benefits, and on-the-job training as major advantages of employment, along with career advancement opportunities within the organization.

The job fair comes as part of a broader USPS effort to modernize its workforce and infrastructure under its 10-year “Delivering for America” plan. The initiative seeks to restore long-term financial sustainability and improve service across mail and shipping categories.

As an independent federal establishment, the USPS operates without taxpayer funding for its day-to-day expenses, relying instead on revenue from postage, products, and services. It currently delivers to more than 169 million addresses, six or seven days a week, as part of its universal service obligation.

For ongoing updates and job postings, applicants are encouraged to check the USPS careers portal regularly. Interested individuals can also follow the USPS on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter) for additional hiring announcements and organizational news.
