Gunfire erupts in I-95 road rage incident; suspect still at large

PHILADELPHIA – Early Monday morning at around 5 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police received a report of a shooting on I-95 between Aramingo Ave. and Cottman Ave. in Northeast Philadelphia. 


The shooting occurred because of a road rage incident. The victim reported he was traveling on I-95 North when the car driving alongside him fired 4 rounds at his vehicle. 


Swiftly, the victim maneuvered through traffic and got off at the next exit. While the victim remained uninjured, his vehicle was struck by the gunfire. 


As of now, all but one lane on the highway have been reopened. 


The suspect’s vehicle was described as maroon in color, and it was an older model of a 4-door Honda Civic sedan with tinted windows. The vehicle continued northbound on I-95 after the incident.


Police are still investigating the situation. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police, Criminal Investigation Unit, at 215-452-5254.
