Police seek the help of the public in identifying alleged suspects in a wire theft

Four individuals appear to be involved in a copper wire theft from Love Park, police say

Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying individuals captured on a video surveillance clip.

According to police, on Feb. 1 at 5:40 a.m., a man, pictured above at left in a red coat, was observed “cutting a section of copper wire from the Portal Machine at Love Park.” The incident was videotaped by police surveillance in the area of 1501 JFK Blvd., Philadelphia.

After removing the wiring, that suspect, police said, the man joined additional suspects pictured and the four left the area with a large, green and yellow trash can. Video of the incident is shared here. (Note: There is no audio in the clip.)



Police ask that, if you see these suspects, do not approach them, but contact 911 immediately. To submit a tip via telephone, dial 215-686-TIPS (8477). Alternatively, witnesses can use this electronic form to submit a tip anonymously. All tips will be confidential, police said.
