This week’s list of fun activities in the Philadelphia region has all the ingredients to soothe your soul. From live music to painting to a literature series, there are plenty of ways to tap into your creative self.

The week will start out with Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations at local restaurants and pubs.

Then in the Abington, there will be a special concert by the renowned Morehouse College Glee Club. In Philadelphia, dark synth pop outfit Riki will be performing at Johnny Brenda’s.

Local favorites Mike & Dave will be performing in Lansdale, and you will have a chance to embrace your wild side in a special painting session in Skippack. Aspiring writers will also have a chance to learn from author Jo Piazza at a workshop at The Doylestown Bookshop.

If you are in the mood for some comedy to lighten your spirit, then you won’t want to miss a standup showcase hosted by comedian Megan Goetz.


Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration at MaGerk’s

On Monday, MaGerk’s Pub and Grill in Horsham is throwing a Saint Patrick’s celebration with live music, Irish Dancers, face painting and other family fun activities and all-day food and drink specials.

Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration at the Yard Pub

On Monday, the Yard Pub in Havertown is also having its Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration.

Starting at 12:30 p.m., enjoy live music by Shaun Durnan, Shelly Fiddle Mix, Brian Boro Band and many others. Irish dancers will perform at 4:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Mar. 19, at 7 p.m., the renowned Morehouse College Glee Club will be bringing their signature sound to the Salem Baptist Church of Abington for a free concert.

HOWL: A Standup Showcase hosted by Megan Goetz

On Friday, Mar. 21, at 8 p.m., The Lab in Ambler is the place to be for some laughs. Comedian Megan Goetz will be hosting HOWL: A Standup Showcase.

The showcase will include some of the area’s best comics as well as Goetz, a Philly’s Phunniest finalist and Reductress writer.

Lit Lab: How to Write and Sell Anything

On Tuesday, Mar. 18, at 6 p.m., The Doylestown Bookshop is hosting its winter workshop series Lit Lab with Jo Piazza.

Piazza, author of The Sicilian Inheritance and other novels, will talk about how to write, publish and monetize your work. You will also get a chance to get an autographed copy of her book.

Piazza is also the host of the Under the Influence podcast.

Painting with a Twist: Crazy Lizard! Pick Your Colors

On Sunday, Mar. 23, at 12 p.m., Painting with a Twist in Skippack is hosting a special paint and sip workshop called: Crazy Lizard! Pick Your Colors.

Don’t forget to bring the wine and settle down for a fun class with instructor Daniel Troupe. Tickets are $42 per person, and you get to bring home the finished 16 x 20 canvas.

“Mike and Dave” at Local Tap

On Friday, Mar. 21, at 7:30 p.m., come and enjoy a night of live music at Local Tap in Lansdale.

Michael Kropp will be on guitar and vocals and Dave Consono on percussion and vocals bringing you the best rock and pop songs.

Riki at Johnny Brenda’s

On Wednesday, Mar. 19, at 8 p.m., Riki will be rocking out the house at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia.

Riki is a Los Angeles-based dark synth pop outfit. The night will also include Donzii, post-punk performance art, and DJs from Born Losers Records.
