Philadelphia City Councilwoman Kendra Brooks is pleading with the public for help seeking the return of her miniature poodle Buzz, after he was was allegedly dognapped.
Brooks had let Buzz, a 5-year-old, brown, miniature poodle, out into her yard on Saturday afternoon, but realized he had gotten out of the yard through a gap in the fence and began wandering the Logan neighborhood where she lives.
A good Samaritan found the dog and was hopeful to return Buzz to his owner, which he thought he did when two women pulled up to him in a silver Nissan Altima near 15th and Wingohocking streets and claimed it was their dog and took it.
According to 6ABC, police say they were called around 3PM on Saturday and were able to find the man who initially found Buzz. They say he is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Video of the car was available to police, but the license plate is obscured.
Police say the man who found the dog reported that Buzz wasn't wearing it's collar or any dog tags, however, Buzz is chipped, meaning that if he ends up at a shelter or an animal hospital, he can be connected to the Brooks family.
According to 6ABC Brooks has said that if Buzz is returned that they will not press charges, that she and her family just want Buzz to come home.
Anyone with any information should contact the Philadelphia Police Department.
