Police pursuit on Schuylkill Expressway ends in arrest, ongoing search for second suspect

  • Public Safety

A police pursuit on I-76 early Thursday morning ended in the arrest of one man and a continuing search for another, after Pennsylvania State Police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in Montgomery County.

According to a police report, troopers were patrolling near mile marker 337 on I-76 East around  3 a.m. when they observed a blue Honda Odyssey with an illegally tinted license plate cover.

After running the vehicle’s registration, troopers discovered the car had been reported stolen.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle briefly pulled over near the exit for Route 23 and Conshohocken.

As officers approached, the vehicle's brake lights turned off and it fled the scene, prompting a pursuit that stretched approximately six miles along the Schuylkill Expressway.

As the chase passed the Gladwyne exit (exit 337), the troopers successfully executed a PIT maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a stop. However, both the driver and passenger exited the car and fled on foot into nearby wooded terrain.

The troopers pursued the suspects and were able to apprehend the passenger, later identified as Nasir McQueen of Philadelphia.

The driver, who has not been identified, managed to evade arrest and was seen multiple times heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-76.

State Police and local law enforcement agencies conducted a coordinated search effort that lasted over three hours but were ultimately unable to locate the suspect. Local departments were alerted to the suspect's last known whereabouts, and the search for the individual remains ongoing.

The recovered Honda Odyssey was impounded, and a search warrant will be executed to examine the vehicle's contents for additional evidence.

Authorities have not yet released details about how the vehicle was stolen or any potential connection between the two suspects. McQueen is expected to face charges related to the incident.

Anyone with information about the second suspect or the events surrounding the pursuit is encouraged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at the Belmont barracks.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
