An already sketchy Phillies bullpen situation has gotten worse - a lot worse.
Jose Alvarado, who has arguably been the best arm in the Phillies bullpen, was suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball for using exogenous testosterone.

Making things even worse, Alvarado will not be eligible for the postseason if the Phillies qualify.
Alvarado, who turns 30 this week, had a 2.70 ERA, an impressive 159 ERA+ and a 6.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio along with seven saves in his first 20 appearances.
In a statement to the media, the Phillies said: "The Phillies fully support Major League Baseball's Joint Prevention and Treatment Program and are disappointed to hear today's news of Jose’s violation."
