A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Upper Darby following an argument with another juvenile, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Long Lane and Pine Street.

Upper Darby police reported that the altercation between the two youths escalated when one of them produced a firearm and shot the victim in the lower back. Khalief Webster, 16, was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

In an effort to identify the suspect, police released surveillance images and video footage showing a person of interest fleeing the scene. The individual is seen wearing a hoodie and carrying a satchel.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect's identity to contact the Upper Darby Police Department at 610-734-7693. Tips can be submitted anonymously.

The Upper Darby School District is working closely with law enforcement to provide support and resources to the victim's family, students, and staff affected by the tragedy.
