A woman and a 3-year-old toddler were found shot in the head and killed in a Wynnefield Heights apartment on Sunday night.
Officers responded to two shots fired on the 3900 block of Lankenau Avenue, just after 6 p.m., according to the police.
Philadelphia Police Inspector Michael Gormley stated that both the 45-year-old woman and the 3-year-old child sustained single gunshot wounds to the head. The woman was declared dead at the scene, and the child was later pronounced dead at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, CBS reported.
Gormely said a weapon was recovered at the scene. The identity and relationship between the victims have not been released as of Monday morning.
The shooting remains under investigation.
