In a significant move to restore healthcare services in Delaware County, ChristianaCare has announced its successful $50.3 million bid to acquire five former Crozer Health outpatient facilities.
This acquisition comes in the wake of Crozer Health's closure following the bankruptcy of its parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings.
The facilities included in the acquisition are located at:
These centers encompass a range of services, including medical offices, ambulatory surgery, imaging, and specialty care.
ChristianaCare President and CEO Dr. Janice Nevin emphasized the organization's commitment to the community, stating, "As we work to meet the needs of our Delaware County neighbors, we are glad that ChristianaCare is able to take on these outpatient centers and provide stability and continuity of access to care for patients."
The acquisition is pending court approval, with the sale expected to close in the near future. ChristianaCare is actively assessing the programs and services at these outpatient centers to determine which services to continue, restart, or expand.
This development is part of ChristianaCare's broader expansion in southeastern Pennsylvania. The health system is also constructing new neighborhood hospitals in West Grove, Chester County, set to open later this Summer, and in Aston in Delaware County, anticipated sometime in 2026.
Additionally, plans are underway for another neighborhood hospital location in Delaware County.
The closure of Crozer Health had left a significant gap in healthcare services in the region, affecting thousands of patients and leading to over 2,600 layoffs.
ChristianaCare's acquisition aims to mitigate these impacts by restoring essential outpatient services and ensuring continued access to care for the community.
As the healthcare landscape in Delaware County evolves, ChristianaCare's investment represents a critical step toward rebuilding and enhancing medical services for residents.
