I guess, today was a good day.

If you looked up around 5 p.m. in the North Penn area, you probably saw the sights of a Goodyear blimp

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s semi-rigid helium airship Wingfoot One (N1A) set off from its Suffield, Ohio home at Wingfoot Lake Airship Operations Balloonport Thursday afternoon, destined for its next event this weekend on the Delaware River -- the Homecoming 250 Navy-Marine Corps event, which runs Friday through Monday.

The airship embarked east across the state on Thursday, crossing south of Limerick, across Route 29 just above Collegeville, over Evansburg State Park, over the Northeast Extension at around the Valley Forge Road overpass in Towamencin, over Pennbrook Middle School in Upper Gwynedd, over Airport Square and Montgomeryville, then continued over Route 611 and Street Road in Neshaminy, down over Warminster and Warrington, and then over Philmont Country Club, before landing at the Philadelphia International Airport.

On Thursday morning, maritime processions began in Philadephia, as Navy ships and other vessels made their way on the Delaware River, arriving in Philadelphia and Camden County, New Jersey, for the celebration.

According to its website, in celebration of its centennial year, the Goodyear Blimp is making appearances across 100 cities in North America and Europe, including major sports events and music and cultural festivals.

Goodyear's airships are 246 feet long and 52 feet high and have a top speed of 70 mph. Its gondola seats 12 and has a restroom.

Fans can look for the blimp's next appearance and keep up with the latest blimp news on Goodyearblimp.com

(And, unfortunately, per reports, it did not state that anyone was "a pimp." Not even Ice Cube.)
