An infusion nurse at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital, which serves patients in the Methacton School District area, was honored at a recent Philadelphia Eagles game for her role as a Crucial Catch co-captain to help raise awareness about cancer screenings.
At the Oct. 5 Eagles-Broncos battle, Jefferson Health colleagues also cheered on a member of their own team – Danielle Klingerman, a nurse at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital.
At the game, she stepped onto Lincoln Financial Field as an Honorary Co-Captain alongside Dr. Baligh Yehia, president of Jefferson Health.
“Just as every catch matters on the field, every screening matters in the fight against cancer,” said Jefferson Einstein in a news release.
As part of the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, Klingerman was joined by Yehia to represent, according to the release, Jefferson Health’s team-approach to providing high-quality cancer care and raising awareness about the importance of early detection.
Klingerman’s path to oncology nursing was deeply personal: While caring for her mother during her breast cancer battle, she witnessed firsthand the struggles patients and families face.
Thus, her passion grew to specialize in oncology, transitioning from a med-surg charge nurse at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital to an infusion nurse at the East Norriton medical center.
“Today, Klingerman is known not only for her clinical expertise, but also for her kindness, mentorship and tireless support of patients and colleagues,” said Jefferson Health.
