A routine patrol in Abington Township led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man after officers discovered a firearm during a traffic stop.
According to police, on Sept. 27, 2025, officers were patrolling the area of Old York Road and Old Orchard Road in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township when they observed a black BMW sedan with heavily tinted windows that prevented visibility into the vehicle’s interior.
Officers stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of 960 Old York Road and identified the driver as Clarence Watts, 20, of During the investigation, police said Watts was found to be in possession of a black semi-automatic handgun.
Authorities noted that Watts is legally prohibited from carrying or concealing firearms due to his age and a prior adjudication for firearm possession in Philadelphia County in 2021.
The investigation is ongoing, and multiple felony charges are pending.
A preliminary hearing is schedule for Dec. 10, 2025, at 10:00 am before Magisterial District Judge Juanita A. Price.
Watts was able to post bail, which was set at $10.000.
