VOORHEES, N.J. -- Asked to reflect back to a shift on Saturday where he looked like a man on a mission to turn multiple Minnesota Wild players into posters on the end boards at Xfinity Mobile Arena, Travis Konecny remembered it fondly.
"Sometimes, when I'm in that mood it's something that helps the team, but in the moment, some of it is just for me, you know, to get some anger out," Konency said.
There were two big hits on the same shift, the one against Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin awoke the sleepy crowd.
"That specific [shift] I remember," Konecny said of the two hits. "There was one that was meant for the team and one that was for me."
It was the first shift of the season that Konecny looked like himself. Up to that point, he had been a little lost. A little frustrated. A little in-between ideas of what to do.
It was as frustrating for him as it was for the fans watching him.
But that shift changed everything.
Konecny was one of the Flyers best players in the third period and overtime, as they pulled out a 2-1 victory over the Flyers.

Then, on Monday, Konecny finally scored his first goal of the season, letting out a primal yawp as he did it.
It felt good.
"Now I don't have to hear about being snake bit again," he said, rolling his eyes in the direction of a reporter standing nearby.
But there was more.
With the game firmly in hand, Konecny took exception to Seattle defenseman Ryan Lindgren delivering a big hit on Sean Couturier. And, well, this happened:

"I saw him going at [Owen Tippett] and he's our hottest guy," It was just one of those things where, in my head I was kind of like, 'What are you doing?' And then, he tried to jump me."
Konecny is so much better when he's an agitator. When he's stirring the pot. When he's under the skin of his opponent.
And the Flyers are so much better when he's doing those little things to impact the game, even if he's not scoring big goals, like the one on Monday.
“Look at your face!”

"Right from camp he's been working hard," coach Rick Tocchet said. "Just like everybody else, he's trying to learn some of the concepts and stuff, but yeah, his work ethic is something I have not complained about."
Konecny is also a key part of the Flyers penalty kill, which is tied for 10th in the league to start the season (83.3%) and he's only been on the ice for two goals at even strength in six games.
So, it might have taken him a bit to score a goal, but he's doing a lot of other things to help the team win.
"He's our best player in a 5-2 game willing to fight for somebody else," said Trevor Zegras. It's amazing. It's really amazing."
And if the version of Konecny that has been on display for the last 4 1/2 periods is the one that your are going to start seeing more regularly, the superlatives will be even greater.
