A surveillance operation by the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) led investigators to uncover evidence at a Glenside restaurant linked to a major narcotics investigation.
According to officials, NET officers were conducting surveillance on Oct. 21 on the 600 block of Brill Street in Philadelphia as part of an ongoing investigation into Chavez Darryl Brown. Investigators observed a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe parked across from Brown’s residence.
Officers observed Brown leaving his home wearing a black t-shirt, gray sweatpants, white socks, and black sneakers, carrying a white trash bag. Brown placed the bag in his vehicle and returned inside. Minutes later, he came back out, entered the Tahoe, and drove away alone.
Investigators followed the vehicle as it traveled to Michael’s Family Restaurant, located at 501 S. Easton Road, Glenside, where Brown was seen backing into the rear parking lot at approximately 1:53 p.m. Surveillance teams reported that Brown exited his vehicle and threw the white trash bag into the restaurant’s dumpster before driving off.
Detectives from the Upper Dublin Township Police Department later checked the dumpster after confirming with restaurant staff that the bag did not belong to the business. Inside, detectives discovered packaging materials coated with a white powdery residue consistent with cocaine.
