Mischief Night has come and gone, but some hackers played a trick on the University of Pennsylvania nonetheless.
Penn alumni and families connected with the university's Graduate School of Education found an unusual email in their inboxes this morning. While appearing official at first glance, it clear was the result of a breach in the system's security.
Calling the school a "dogshit elitist institution" with "terrible security practices," the anonymous hacker advised recipients to "stop giving [Penn] money."
According to the school's newspaper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, a spokesman for Penn says that the email is “highly offensive,” and is “in no way reflective of Penn or Penn GSE's mission or actions.”
