Popular sports radio host Mike Missanelli was arrested for assault in the early hours of Wednesday, April 8, after police said he slapped his fiancee during a dispute.

Lower Merion police reported to the Wynnewood section of the township around 12:10 a.m. Wednesday morning for the report of a 911 hangup. Upon arrival to the home, police spoke with Missanelli, 70, of Wynnewood, who allegedly told police he and his fiancee had gotten into a “scuffle” and that it became a more heated argument. He allegedly said that the woman struck him in the chest, though police said he had no visible injuries, according to the criminal complaint

Police said they spoke with Missanelli’s fiancee who agreed the two had been arguing. The fiancee stated Missanelli “open hand slapped her” on the left side of her face, and responding officers noted a laceration,  on the left side of the woman’s  head. Police reported they “observed fresh blood,” according to the affidavit of probable cause, adding they also observed swelling on the woman’s ear.

Missanelli was placed under arrest by LMPD. He faces one misdemeanor charge of simple assault, as well as a summary offense for harassment/subjecting another to physical contact.

Bail was set as an unsecured $10,000 at a preliminary arraignment on Wednesday morning before Magisterial District Judge John I. McMahon Jr. Missanelli will return to court on April 22 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Karen Eisner Zucker for a preliminary hearing.
