At this point, it may just be easier for the Sixers to issue a healthy report instead of an injury report on a day-to-day basis.
The team's injury report on Thursday afternoon revealed that Adem Bona, the starting center of late with Joel Embiid still out with an oblique strain, would miss the night's game in Detroit against the Eastern Conference's best Pistons (46-18). Also, backup center Andre Drummond was listed as questionable, also with a back injury.
It's been a wild week on the injury front for the Sixers as they announced on Tuesday, just before the team took down the lowly Memphis Grizzlies, that Tyrese Maxey would miss at least three weeks with ligament damage to his right pinky.
Wednesday, it was announced that forward Kelly Oubre Jr. was going to be out about two weeks with ligament damage in his left (shooting) elbow. Oubre scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against the Grizzlies on Tuesday, and seemed fine when speaking with reporters after the game, with no mention of anything happening during the game.
Those setbacks add to the unavailability of Embiid, who is set to get reevaluated in the coming days, and Paul George, who is eligible to return on March 25 from his 25-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy. The team currently sits in the eighth spot of the Eastern Conference. That would ensure the team a spot in the league's play-in tournament. They are a game and a half out of the sixth slot, which would mean a first-round playoff series.
After Thursday's game in Detroit, the Sixers will play back-to-back home games on Saturday and Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trail Blazers, respectively. They then embark on a three games in five days West Coast road trip.
