Justin Crawford and Andrew Painter will be upgrading their numbers ahead of their upcoming MLB Debuts for the Phillies.
Crawford — who is expected to hit ninth and play center field against the Texas Rangers on Opening Day — will don No. 2, according to Ty Daubert of Phillies Nation. Crawford had been wearing No. 80 during Spring Training.

As multiple people have pointed out, Crawford's older cousin, J.P., wore No. 2 at the outset of his career with the Phillies in 2017 and 2018. Harrison Bader was the most recent player to wear No. 2 for the Phillies.
Meanwhile, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki says that Painter is going to wear No. 24. The righty is expected to make his long-awaited MLB Debut in the fifth game of the season when the Phillies host the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:40 ET. No Phillie has worn No. 24 since the 2023 season, when Darick Hall had it.
Painter wore No. 76 during Spring Training. No Phillie has ever worn No. 76, and in the city of Philadelphia, that feels wrong. But Painter has opted for a more traditional number, and it's hard to blame him.
